Mission & Philosophy

About Us

Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology is a magnet school that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

•Infuses Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) into all classrooms

•Hands-on Computer Science Lab that's based on STEMscopes, a comprehensive suite of results-oriented STEM curriculum and professional development solutions used by more than 9 million students and 750,000 teachers across the country

•STEM Lab uses Lego Education coding curriculum focused on the 4 C's: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. 

  • All lessons are grade-level specific and developmentally appropriate. 
  • Teachers follow the 5E instructional model: Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend/Elaborate, Evaluate which align with NASA's instructional model.

Tuesday, August 18

  • 🤝 TK & Kindergarten Meet and Greet — 2:00 PM
    Our youngest learners and their families will have a chance to meet, connect, and get ready for the first day of school!
  • 💻 Teacher Information Available in Q Connect — 4:00 PM
    At 4:00 PM, you’ll be able to see your student’s teacher in Q Connect.
  • 💌 Welcome Back Letters — 4:00 PM
    Teachers will also send a special welcome-back letter with information to help families get ready for the school year.Wednesday, August 19
  • 🏫 First Day of School!
    The big day is here! We can’t wait to welcome our students back to campus for the start of an amazing school year. 🎉
  • ☕ Coffee Chat with the Principal — 8:50 AM, MPR
    Families are invited to join the Principal for a morning coffee chat in the MPR.

  • 🏫 Back to School Night — 6:00 PM
    Come learn more about your student’s classroom, grade-level experience, and the year ahead. A detailed schedule with exact times and room locations by grade level will be shared closer to the event.

  • 🇺🇸 Labor Day — No School
    Enjoy the long weekend with your family! We’ll see everyone back at school after the holiday.
  • Tuesday, September 8

    Back to School Pictures

    It’s picture day! 🎉 Students will have the opportunity to take their Back to School Pictures, so be sure everyone comes ready to smile and celebrate the start of a wonderful new school year.
