Since the inception of Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology (FAST), we have enjoyed a partnership with California Lutheran University (CLU) in Thousand Oaks.  They have provided our teachers with special training in science, technology, and our video studio. Over the years, FAST has benefited from full time and beginning student teachers from CLU and we have now finalized our PDS (Professional Development School) with the University.

A Professional Development School is an innovative relationship that provides benefits to both partners. CLU students and professors will benefit by having a school site readily available for observation, participation in activities, and hands on learning. FAST teachers become adjunct CLU professors, providing opportunities to demonstrate a variety of techniques, procedures, and philosophies. This partnership ultimately benefits each child at FAST by providing high quality learning experiences and a higher student to adult ratio in many classrooms. Another bonus for FAST is that two methods classes taught by CLU professors will take place on our campus, so that student teachers will be able to observe our excellent teachers in action.

A steering committee comprised of educators from Moorpark Unified School District, CLU personnel, FAST parents, and student teachers from the program, meet throughout the year to review and assess the program to make sure that it is running smoothly.

We are very excited about our PDS relationship with CLU and look forward to its continued success at Flory!
